Calvary Cemetery Policy

The purpose of these rules is to ensure Calvary Cemetery is maintained with the utmost respect and dignity, with the cooperation of the parish community. We thank you for your support.

1. Burial Plots

  • Burial plots are allocated based on land availability at the time of burial.
  • Plot sizes:
    • Double: 8 ft. x 8 ft.
    • Single: 8 ft. x 4 ft.
  • Graveside kerbs must not exceed these dimensions.
  • Only headstones and kerbing are permitted as permanent structures near graves.
  • Plots will be assigned sequentially, based on availability, as determined by the committee.

2. Fees

  • Burial plots are subject to charges set by the committee and reviewed periodically.

3. Grave Maintenance

  • Plot holders are responsible for keeping graves tidy.
  • Waste should be disposed of in designated bins. Domestic waste is not permitted.

4. Contractor Requirements

  • Contractors erecting headstones or kerbing must:
    • Accept responsibility for any damage caused.
    • Remove surplus materials from the cemetery.
    • Submit proof of insurance indemnifying the committee and a Workplace Safety Statement to the Parish Office before starting work.

5. Safety and Conduct

  • The committee may halt grave openings or monument erections on safety grounds.
  • Alcohol consumption is prohibited on consecrated grounds.
  • Any damage or inappropriate behavior will be reported to authorities for prosecution.
  • Pets must be leashed, and owners are responsible for cleaning up pet waste.

6. Policy Review

This policy is subject to review and amendment by the Friends of Calvary Committee as necessary.
